STG wrap-up: 24 October 2014

Hi All

02 weeks to Noosa OD

06 weeks to Western Sydney 70.3

07 weeks to Ironman WA

11 weeks to Jindabyne Training Camp

18 weeks to Huskisson Long Course

Programs are updated in Training Peaks and attached is the race list for 14/15.

For those who have their eye on Huskisson Long Course in Feb 15 we’re getting close to the critical 16 week to go mark.  If you’re looking for a solid performance this is the minimum amount of time it takes to get ready for a long course race.  You should now be well into the volume building phase of your program in preparation for the race specific training block which we will start from 12 weeks to go.

Jindabyne Training Camp Update

With Steve E and Campbell F off the maybe list we now have 16 confirmed starters for the STG Jindabyne training camp which is being held from 7 – 11  Jan.  We’re about to lock in accommodation so if you’re interested in coming you’ll need to RSVP by the end of next week.

For those who are confirmed starters, if you haven’t paid your 50 percent deposit can you please do so ASAP.

Race Results

Port Macquarie 70.3

We had 4 of the STG crew racing last Sunday in the Port Macquarie 70.3.  This is tough race and times were about 5 percent slower than the recent Sunshine Coast 70.3.  No PBs but Andy E successfully completed his first 70.3 despite 4 flat tires on wheels he rented!  On closer inspection during the race (probably at tire change 3) he noticed the tires were worn down in parts to the mesh – there’s a lesson for us all.

Botany Bay Big Coast 20km – trail run

This race was held at Kurnell, apparently on the scenic side. Steve E managed 4th place, pipped for 3rdby 3 seconds following a sprint to the line.

See you at training.
